Uplift Your Mind, Body & Soul

Depression is the most common serious psychiatric problem in the U.S., affecting millions of people each year. Some form of depression appear to be at least twice as common in women as in men.

This CD (also available on iTunes) has been created by two men—a musician and a psychiatrist—who feel that the arrangements, rhythm and beat, will in most cases lift the depressed at least to some degree. It is believed that depression can be treated reasonably and effectively with certain types of music.

The symptoms of depression can vary greatly. Some of the most common signs of depression include feeling of hopelessness, helplessness, persistent sadness, negative thinking, low self-esteem, irritability, and concentration.

The question “What causes depression?” has no easy answer. In many instances, depression has no identifiable cause. Sometimes it is genetics, changes in hormones, and/or negative life events such as a major loss. Researchers believe that depression may result from chemical imbalances in the brain. Most often, depression can be treated effectively through the benefits of therapy or prescribed antidepressant medication.

In this instance we believe that music can assist in several ways to lift depression.
